FRICO 2017

21st Workshop on Future Research in Combinatorial Optimization

Trier, August 14-18, 2017

Conference

The Workshop on Future Research on Combinatorial Optimization (FRICO) is a conference with a 20-year-long history originating in Cologne. It aims at bringing together young researchers in the fields of integer and combinatorial optimization, OR, graph theory, and other related fields. The conference is characterized by its unconstrained nature that gives room for presentations of finished and on-going projects by early-caeer researchers. Since FRICO is organized solely by PhD students, a casual and engaging atmosphere is the trademark of the workshop. Every attendant of the conference also gives a presentation to establish a high level of interaction and creativity.

This year's FRICO will be held August 14-18, 2017 at Trier University. The registration deadline is June 30, 2017 and there is no participation fee. Please use the abstract template to submit your abstract during the registration. Traditionally, the conference is limited to 30 participants.

Industry

FRICO intends on connecting industry partners with PhD students and furthers the application of mathematics to industry and science. Industry partners actively engage in the workshop and have the opportunity to contribute directly with a presentation. We would like to thank SIEMENS, INFORM, Deutsche Bahn, Fraport and Bayer for participating in the program of FRICO 2016 and we particularly thank SIEMENS and INFORM for funding last year's event.

RTG ALOP

The workshop is organized by members of the Research Training Group "Algorithmic Optimization" (ALOP), funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as RTG 2126. ALOP provides funds and organizational support for the 21st FRICO workshop and is based in the Department of Mathematics at Trier University.
